Ohio Student Research Forum
Q: Where
will the 2008 Forum be held?
A: The 2008 Forum will be held at the Ohio State University in Columbus,
OH.
Q: Who
may attend the Forum?
A: Members of the Ohio Alliance Steering Committee are expected to attend.
Faculty and graduate student mentors and assistants are encouraged to attend.
Faculty may come for the day or spend the night at the host hotel if they are
not from the Columbus area.
Q: How
much will it cost to attend the Forum? Is there a registration
fee?
A: The Ohio Student Research Forum is funded by the National Science Foundation
which will pay the expenses for all for all faculty mentors and graduate assistants
associated with Alliance programs. The deadline to register is July 22, 2008.
Q: Where
will the faculty and graduate students stay?
A: Faculty and graduate students will stay at the University Plaza Hotel and conference Center, 3110 Olentangy River Road, Columbus, OH 43202. 614.267.7461. Rooms are not guaranteed to be available until 3:00 PM on arrival day but students will have a place to store their luggage until their rooms are released.
Your hotel room will be reserved for you after you register
for the
conference. NSF funds will pay
for the room, but guests will be responsible for any incidentals
(e.g.,
long
distance
calls,
room service).
If you are not
from an Ohio Alliance institution, you will be responsible for all room charges
and incidentals.
Q: What
is the appropriate dress?
A: The Ohio Student Research Forum is a professional conference. Proper dress
during the day is business casual (no shorts or halter tops) and something
a little dressy (shirts and ties for the men) for dinner on Thursday evening.
Q: What
role should the faculty, staff, and graduate students play at this
Forum?
A: Faculty, staff, and graduate students will serve as small group discussion
facilitators and workshop leaders. They are also encouraged to get to know
the undergraduate participants and to participate actively in the rest of the
program, especially the student poster session.
Q: Where
should I park?
A: Parking is free at the University Plaza Hotel and Conference Center. There are a number of parking spaces available at the 4-H Center. Forum guest identification sheets will be provided to those parking at the 4-H Center for placement on your dashboard.
Q: How do I know
where to go once I get to Ohio State?
A: For those arriving on Thursday, August 7, please come directly to the University Hotel and Conference Center. All activities for the day will be held at this location except for the Informal Networking session.
For those arriving on Friday, August 8, report directly to the 4-H center on Fred Taylor Drive.
