Huntington
Vice Provost for Graduate Studies and Dean of the Graduate School
Susan L. Huntington is Distinguished University Professor and Professor
History of Art, and has served as Vice Provost for Graduate Studies
and Dean of the Graduate School at Ohio State since 1996. She received
her Bachelor's degree from the University of Michigan and her Ph.D.
from UCLA. She is the author of three books and numerous articles
on Indian art, and the recipient of numerous awards, grants, and
distinctions for her teaching and research, including awards from
the National Endowment for the Humanities, the John Simon Guggenheim
Foundation, and the Smithsonian institution. She has served as Vice
President and Board Member of the American Institute of Indian Studies,
President of the American Committee for South Asian Art, and co-curator
of a major exhibition of Indian art. She is co-founder of the Huntington
Photographic Archive of Buddhist and Related Art at the Ohio State
University. In her role as Graduate School dean, she has oversight
over Ohio State' approximately 120 Master's and 99 Ph.D. degree programs
and the approximately 10,000 graduate students enrolled in those
programs.
She continues to teach Indian art, and mentor graduate students while
serving in the Graduate School. She is co-author of the G-QUE report,
a massive study conducted at Ohio State on the quality of graduate
student life.
