Student Achievement
in Research and Scholarship (STARS)
STARS is a state-wide
mentoring program that helps attract Ohio's minority undergraduates
to Ohio's
graduate schools. The program offers the opportunity to conduct
research under the guidance of a faculty mentor, research awards,
travel scholarships
to attend academic conferences, and participation in campus-based
enrichment activities.
Summer
Research Opportunities Program (SROP)
The Summer
Research Opportunities Program at Ohio State is designed to help minority
undergraduates explore opportunities for graduate study and academic
careers. SROP participants work with a faculty sponsor on a project
of mutual interest, with the intention of developing the kind of student-professor
relationship that is crucial to success in graduate school. SROP activities
include workshops on research skills and seminars on topics related
to graduate education and career development.
Denman Undergraduate Research Forum
This
annual event that provides
Ohio State students an opportunity to showcase their research projects.
It was held May 12, 2004 in St. John Arena. This year's event was
the largest ever, with nearly 300 undergraduates showcasing their
research.
It
was a gathering of some of the brightest minds across campus, showing
off the type of top-level research (usually reserved for graduate study)
undergraduates can take part in at Ohio State.
