About the Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation (LSAMP)

The LSAMP Program is intended to increase the quantity and quality of underrepresented minority students completing baccalaureate degrees and pursuing graduate degrees in the sciences and engineering. The goal can only be achieved by drawing on the knowledge, resources, and capabilities of a variety of organizations. LSAMP will support collaborations among majority and minority institutions (e.g., universities and both two- and four-year colleges), States, school districts, industry, STEM professional organizations, private foundations, and other Federal agencies in partnership with NSF. Participating institutions would be required to commit resources to the project during the period of NSF support and to demonstrate lasting changes inorganizational structure which would permanently integrate program goals.
