OSEA RESEARCH INTERNSHIPS

Early intervention programs are designed to engage undergraduates in research experiences with faculty mentors, accelerate student’s socialization into the profession, and create a community of scholars among the participants.

Many alliance institutions offer educational activities in conjunction with the summer research internship.

Students who are awarded research internships become Glenn-Stokes Scholars.

Academic Year Research Internships

  • Students apply through their campus representative to work on a project on their own campus.
  • Interns work an average of 10 hours per week on a project with a faculty mentor.
  • Interns receive a stipend of $1,800 for the academic year ($600 per quarter or $900 per semester).
  • The application deadline varies by campus.

Summer Research Internships

  • Students apply through the OSEA office at the Ohio State University to work on a project at any of the Universities or partners.
  • Interns work full time on a project with a faculty mentor.
  • Interns receive a stipend of $3,000 for the summer term plus a $500 room and board allowance. Tuition will be covered for interns require to register for academic credit.
  • The application deadline is February 1st.

Student Research Forum

This forum is an annual two-day, statewide conference brings together Research Interns to report the results of their work. It is hosted by one of the Alliance institutions in August of each year. The Ohio State University will host the 2004 Forum on August 19th and 20th.
